The Portal Development Kit (PDK) is a development kit for developers and integrators building location-based attractions.
Development Kit: early-access hardware, software in active development.
Supplied for development and evaluation use (Terms, Section 8.1). A paid public ride is an amusement device where local law says so — licensing, inspection, insurance, operator training — and the Terms do not cover those duties (Section 8.2).
The floor maths
Three numbers an operator asks first.
Commercial operation — a venue, an attraction, paid rides — needs a Commercial Operator Agreement under the Development Kit Evaluation Agreement, Section 8. That agreement is not available yet. Tell us what you are planning; we may decline any request (Section 8.4).
Power
Standard mains, 100 to 290 V. No three-phase supply. Where the Installation Guide calls for a competent electrician, use one.
Duty cycle
Static weight sits on air rather than on the motors, so the motors move the rider rather than hold the load.

The reaction that matters for an attraction is not the enthusiast's — it is the person who joined the queue because the queue was there. At SimRacing Expo Dortmund and Sim Gaming Expo, Schaumburg, Chicago, the platform ran back-to-back public floor days.
Each ride ran 3 to 5 minutes, at least 15 riders an hour. In Dortmund that was three days back to back, mostly first-time riders. Across three shows, Sim Gaming Expo 2026 included, more than 570 people signed up to ride.
